Coronation Celebrations Part 1

Updated: May 7, 2023

Here's a picture of me just before giving the Royal Coronation Proclamation in Billingham Town Centre today. The other gentleman in the picture is the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Durham, Mr Mark White OBE. Mark is the King's representative in the area and as such, he delivered a message to the people of Billingham from the King and Queen.

This picture is of myself, the Deputy Lord Lieutenant and the Standard Bearer of Billingham Branch of the Royal British Legion, Mr Don Patton, a Royal Navy veteran.

Final picture for today is of the actual proclamation that I read.

So, a good day, no protesters and my chance to play a small part in the history of the town of Billingham and of our great country. I live the pomp and circumstance, the pageantry and the traditions. For me, these are some of the things that nobody in the world does better than we do. It's part of what puts the "Great" in "Great Britain".

Another two readings tomorrow so possibly a few more pictures to come!

GOD SAVE THE KING!
